This series of photographs was taken in the middle of winter, the next day after Christmas Day. I got up early and said to myself without thinking, ‘Let’s go and photograph’. I got out of d’Iberville Street and took the familiar route that would lead me to René-Lévesque Park, in Lachine, right on the river. It’s one of my favourite places on the island of Montreal. Whether it’s Winter, Summer, Spring or Autumn, I always stop off for a while or even a whole day in this park, which forms a small peninsula within the main island.

It’s a cold morning and I’m walking in the snow along the river in complete solitude, always surprised by the landscape, the colours of the morning and the steamy, liquid flow right beside me. So I chose a small series from among the many photographs I’ve taken in this calm, green park in the warmer seasons, because on this particular morning my eyes and thoughts were completely captivated by the surrounding view, the invigorating and vivifying atmosphere emanating from the place.

Cette série de photographies a été prise en pleine hiver, le lendemain de Noël. Me levant tôt, sans réfléchir je me suis dit « allons photographier ». Je sors de la rue d’Iberville et parcourt ce trajet familier qui va me mener dans le Parc René-Lévesque, à Lachine, juste au bord du fleuve. C’est un de mes endroits préféré sur l’ile de Montréal. Que cela soit en hiver, été, printemps ou en automne, je passe toujours pour m’arrêter quelques temps voir une journée complète dans ce parc, formant une petite presqu’ile au sein de la grande ile.

En cette matinée, il fait bien froid et je marche dans la neige longeant le fleuve en toute solitude et toujours surpris du paysage, des couleurs du matin et du flux, vaporeux et liquide qui s’écoule juste à côté de moi. J’ai choisi ainsi une petite série parmi les nombreuses photographies que j’ai pu prendre dans ce parc calme et verdoyant dans les chaudes saisons, parce qu’en cette matinée mon regard et mes pensées étaient complétement captivés par la vue environnante et l’atmosphère vivifiante et revigorante émise en ces lieux.
